: The current study was approved by the Regional Ethical Review Board in Gothenburg, Sweden (reference number 1011–15). All patients were informed at registration in the Swedish Fracture Register that they had the right to withdraw. According to Swedish legislation, National Quality Registers do not require signed consent from the individual registered patient (31). All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
