The study protocol of JAGES was reviewed and approved by the Ethics Committee at Chiba University Faculty of Medicine (approval number 331 and 1201), and the Ethics and Conflict of Interest Management Committee, Center for Gerontology and Social Science, National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology (approval number 992–2 and 1274–2), and the Ethics Committee at the Japan Agency for Gerontological Evaluation Study (approval number 2019–01). All participants provided their written informed consent before they responded and returned the questionnaire by mail in this study.
