: The research committee of Helsinki University Hospital Musculoskeletal and Plastic surgery gave a research permission (HUS/234/2020) and waived the need for ethical board processing or informed consent to participate. In Helsinki University, the research permission and ethical committee approval are separate entities, and the institutional research committee decides, whether a separate ethical board processing is required. According to Finnish legislation on medical research (Medical research act 488/1999, amendments 295/2004 and 794/2010), retrospective analysis of pseudonymized patient data with no interaction with the patients, as in the current study, does not require ethical board processing or informed consent to participate. The study was conducted in accordance with the declaration of Helsinki.
