: The Backs on Funen study was approved by the Regional Committees on Health Research Ethics for Southern Denmark (reference number 20000042). Approval for the establishment and use of the study database was obtained from the Danish Data Protection Agency (reference number 2000-53-0037) [ ]. Eligible participants received written information about the study by mail and were offered the opportunity to obtain further information by telephone. Additional oral information was provided at the first study visit, where participants were given the opportunity to ask questions before enrolment. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants prior to participation in the study. The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki.
