: 53 patients among the 373 patients in this study has been included in our previous research on the family companion between patients with COVID-19 [CitationRef removed]. No data about their glucose level has been reported previously.
: Because COVID-19 is an emerging infectious disease, the requirement for written informed consent was waived by the Ethics Commission. Moreover, this study analysed deidentified participant data for which formal consent is not required.
