: Ethical permission was obtained from the Makerere University Institutional Review Board, the School of Health Sciences Research and Ethics Committee (MakSHSREC), and the Uganda National Council of Science and Technology (UNCST). The reference number is 2017-080. Permission was also received from the KCCA because the study clinics used were under their governance and control. Ethical permission was also obtained from the Norwegian Regional Ethics Committee (REK), reference number 466785. The study involved obtaining informed consent to participate from parents or caregivers of adolescents aged 10–17 and 18 and verbal assent for those aged 13–17. Audios were recorded, and informed consent to participate was obtained from parents or caregivers for all participants. Participants could withdraw at any time, and consent included voluntary participation information.
