: The study approval was sought from Uganda National Council of Science and Technology (UNCST) through the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Makerere University School of Public Health Higher Degrees Research and Education Committee (HDREC). Permission to conduct the research was further sought from Mulago Hospital Institutional Review Board and administrative clearance was sought from the Hospital Director and the Head of Dental out-patient Department before commencement of the study.The study enrolled male and female participants aged 18 and above who provided written informed consent before participating in the study. Written informed consent was obtained from the study participants in accordance with Helsinki Declaration (WMA, 2024).Participation was voluntary; the respondents’ confidentiality was maintained through the use of special codes on the questionnaires. The study was conducted in line with the approved protocol and as per the local and international research guidelines and regulations.
