: This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (CAAE: 68160923.0.0000.5419) and was conducted in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. In order to obtain ethics approval, a declaration from the institutional tooth biobank was submitted directly to the Ethics Committee. As the study used anonymized extracted human teeth obtained through the biobank (Human Tooth Biobank of the School of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto – University of São Paulo) in compliance with institutional and national regulations, the Ethics Committee waived the requirement for informed consent from individual donors.
