Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The chair of each PaTz-group gathered consent to participate from all members of the group and gave written informed consent for the groups as a whole. At the start of each observation, all present participants confirmed their consent verbally to the researcher. This was not documented as the observations would not continue without the consent of all participants. All participating GPs gave written informed consent for the mortality follow-back study. The Medical Ethics Committee of the VUmc approved of this procedure as they assessed that the Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act (WMO) did not apply to this study, and subsequently waived the need for official approval (VUmc METc 2018.069).
