: The University of Warwick Biomedical & Scientific Research Ethics Committee (BSREC) provided ethical approval for this study (ref.154/20–21 date. 28.07.2021). We also obtained approval from the Research Governance Committee for participating hospices. All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. All participants received a participation information sheet and provided informed verbal consent to take part. Written consent was not required as all focus group participants were hospice staff members at participating hospice sites. Participation was voluntary and participants could withdraw and/or leave the focus group and/or choose to listen only without giving a reason. This process for receiving informed consent from staff participants was approved by the University of Warwick ethics committee, BSREC (ref.154/20–21 date. 28.07.2021). Data protection and confidentiality procedures were observed.
