: This study adhered to the principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki and was approved by the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research (ref. no. 732136). The Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research Ethics (South East Norway, committee D), evaluated the aim of the study to be outside of the Norwegian Act on medical and health research (ExternalRef removed), and to be done without application and approval from the Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research Ethics (ref. no. 520322). Before the patients’ participation in this study, they were informed about the details of study orally and in writing, after which they were asked for their written informed consent to participate in it. They were also assured of their right to withdraw from the study at any time without explanation. They were anonymized in all the materials, and the written consents were locked in a safe cabinet. Because patients in the palliative phase are traditionally considered a vulnerable group the first author paid close attention to the patients' well-being to ensure that they would not experience unnecessary strain during the interviews.
