: Approval was obtained from the Norwegian Centre for Research Data (NSD) (Reference numbers: 838156 and 634351), local data protection officer for the specialist healthcare services and the head of the departments of the included care context. This study is a part of a larger multi-centre study, Palliative Quality Care COVID-19 (PaQC-C19), conducted in Sweden and Norway. Approval was therefore also obtained by The Swedish Ethical Review Authority (dnr. 356 2021/01623). However, this present study reports solely on the Norwegian population. The study was conducted according to the principles of ethical research in the Helsinki declaration [] and Ethical guidelines for nursing research in the Nordic countries []. Participants were given written and verbal information about the aim of the study, the voluntary nature of participation and the right to withdraw at any time before data were analysed with no need for explanation and that the study results were to be published. Written informed consent was obtained from all the participants.
