: The study plans and documents were approved by the Nepal Health Research Council, in January 2019, Advarra (an institutional review board and independent provider of regulatory compliance consulting) in February 2019, and Save the Children’s Ethical Review Committee in March 2019. Furthermore, permission to collect data was taken from the Ministry of Social Development (MOSD), Karnali province, and the study municipalities. The verbal and written informed consent were obtained from individual participants and their legal guardian before conducting interviews. The objectives and benefits of the study were clearly mentioned to the participants. Participants were informed that their participation was voluntary, and that they could terminate the survey or interview at any point without repercussion. Following data collection, the privacy and confidentiality was protected by storing respondent data on secure servers and all the personal identifiers were removed with the code for this purpose. Finally, all methods in the study were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
