: Ethical clearance was obtained from the Mount Kenya University (MKU) Ethical Review Board with reference number MKU/ETHICS/026/2022 before contacting the hospitals.Further authorization to collect the data from study participants was obtained from the ethics committee of each hospital. The questionnaires were distributed to each participant only if the respondent gave a written informed consent to be part of the study after the aim, benefits and risks of the study were explained by the researcher and head of nursing. All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
