Ethics approval and consent to participate: Ethical clearance for the research was obtained from the Babcock University Health Research and Ethics Committee, Reference No: BUHREC 015/26NB/88. Permission was obtained from the BUTH records department, operating theatre department and the gynaecological wards for the use of patients’ hospital records. The research was conducted following laid down principles in accordance with the declaration of Helsinki, although consent was not required, all data collected were completely anonymized and kept safely in a password protected computer.
