: The protocol No. 148 was previously approved by the Institutional Animal Care Committee at UAM-Xochimilco and in accordance with the Guidelines for Animal Experimentation of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). All animal procedures were carried out in accordance with the Mexican Council for Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and the Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-062-ZOO-1999. Additionally, every effort was made to minimize pain and suffering, and the number of rats used for the experiment was the minimum number required to obtain significant statistical power. At the end of the experiments, rats were euthanized in a CO<sub>2</sub> chamber.
