: The study received ethical approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the American University of Beirut under protocol number SBS-2019-0059. Oral consent was received from all participants prior to participation, and each participant was assured of their anonymity and confidentiality. Study participants were handed a copy of the oral consent script, which included the contact information of the principal investigator as well as the IRB office (Additional file ). The IRB approved this procedure for obtaining the oral consent as evidenced by the board’s stamp on oral consent script. This script served to document the consenting process. The IRB supported the oral in lieu of the written consent in order to protect the identity of the interviewees. Participants were informed that participation is voluntary and that they can decide to withdraw at any time during the interview. All methods in this study were conducted in accordance with the Helsinki principles for medical research.
