: The study protocol was approved by the Debre Markos University, School of Medicine ethical review committee on September 18, 2021, under the number M/R/CS/61/03/21. The plant material was gathered following WHO guidelines for good agricultural and collection practice (GACP) for medicinal plants. The <i>O. lamiifolium</i> leaf was harvested on September 22, 2021, under the supervision of a Debre Markos University botanist. The principal investigator received a permission letter from the Amhara national regional state's, East Gojjam Zone, Department of Agriculture with Ref. No 2667/3. The animals were handled and used following international guidelines for laboratory animal care and use. Furthermore, the research was carried out under the ARRIVE guidelines.
