The Tromsø7 study has previously been approved by the Regional Committee of Research Ethics (REC) (ID 2014/940), and all study participants gave written informed consent before inclusion. It received privacy approval by the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research (Sikt) (ID 204028), and was submitted to REC (ID 681036). REC concluded that approval was not required.
