Ethics approval and consent to participate: This study was reviewed by the Academic Ethics Committee of Shaoguan University. As the research was based on ethnobotanical interviews with adult participants and did not involve any clinical intervention, biological sampling, or collection of sensitive personal data, formal approval from an institutional review board was considered unnecessary in accordance with national regulations in China. Prior informed oral consent was obtained from all participants before the interviews. All procedures performed in this study were conducted in accordance with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.
