Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study (protocol H-43603) was approved by the Institutional Review Board at Baylor College of Medicine. Human participants in this study included only healthcare professions students enrolled in graduate school. As outlined in the study protocol, participants in the study consented and agreed to anonymously complete pre- and post-surveys when attending workshops. Data was initially collected from these workshops purely for continuous quality improvement and curriculum development purposes as opposed to research. For this reason, some data was collected prior to obtaining IRB approval. The students participating in workshops prior to IRB approval gave implied verbal consent and completed surveys both voluntarily and anonymously. Workshops that were held after IRB approval contained written consent information at the top of each survey outlining the use of data for both research and internal quality improvement purposes. This information was reviewed verbally prior to the start of each workshop. Verbal consent was chosen deliberately in this study to preserve the anonymity of all survey participants. Participation in the study was optional and did not have any impact on academic standing within each graduate program. The methodology outlined above for consent to participate was approved by the ethics committee.
