: The need for ethics approval was waived by the Institutional Review Board of the University of Illinois Chicago in UIC Amendment #30, approved October 12, 2017. This amendment reflects the agreement of MATEC and the UIC IRB that protocol # 2002 − 0561 qualifies as a training center grant, under 45 CFR 46.118, and not as a research protocol. The principles of the Declaration of Helsinki do not apply to our study since no medical research with human participants was conducted.
