: The present study was part of a quality improvement project promoted by local institutional boards to assess annually the competences achieved at the point of graduation by continuing. The data collection initiated with the COMPEUnurse study approved by the Ethics Committee of the University of Turku, Finland (Statement 16/2017 6.3.2017). The study was carried out according to ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki (World Medical Association, 2013) and the responsible conduct of research (All European Academies, 2017) and in accordance with the Italian rules ‘Linee guida per la classificazione e conduzione degli studi osservazionali sui farmaci (Determination 20 March 2008) that considers the questionnaires (Page 7) as observational studies. Respondents’ right to privacy, anonymity and right to withdraw from the study were fully ensured. After administrative approval obtained by the Nursing Programs according to the data collected (anonymised, not personal, not sensible) potential participants were informed that participation was voluntary and that they would be free to not join the study, with no harm for their future university career. No incentive for participating was given to the new graduates. They were also informed that the data acquired would be treated in compliance with the current national and European privacy regulations. Written informed consent was given and then respondents were allowed to compete and submit the survey after reading the statement of study procedures. Data were fully and irreversibly anonymized by generalization of important variables.
