Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Approval to conduct this study was obtained from the Health Research and Ethics Committees of the three states where the study took place with reference number JHREC/A/R/08/2015, MOH/ADM/744/VOL 1/267 and MOH/Off/797/TI/23 for Jigawa, Kaduna, and Kano respectively. Written informed consents were individually obtained from all study participants. For participants that could not read or write, verbal informed consents were requested after the informed consent have been duly read to them in the local language as approved by the ethics committees. Parental or legal guardian consent, as applicable, was acquired for participants below 16 years before interviews.
