Ethics approval and consent to participate

: All panel members of the Dutch Patient Federation were invited by email to complete the questionnaire. In this email, we informed panel members that participation was voluntary and could be terminated at any time during the questionnaire. In addition, their contributions would be made anonymous, would not be traced back to individuals and would be used for academic publication. We indicated that respondents gave informed consent by accessing the online questionnaire via the URL included in the email. Based on these conditions, approval by the ‘Dutch Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act’ was not applicable.
