Ethics approval and consent to participate

: The local hospital ethics committee in Cork University Maternity Hospital, Wilton, Cork, Ireland reviewed the proposed study. The questionnaire used in the study was sent to the Directorate – including the manager and Director of Midwifery and approval was granted before the survey was distributed.Verbal consent was obtained from the participants of the study. This was deemed appropriate by the local ethics committee as the surveys were completely anonymous with no patient identifiable details. Patients were under no obligation to complete the surveys if they did not wish to partake in the study.
