Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval was sought for the ‘cognitive interview’ element of this study, undertaken with members of the patient and public involvement groups. All participants were provided with written information about the project and were encouraged to ask any questions. Written, informed consent was gained from each participant prior to interview. Ethical approval for this element of the study was received from Wales Research Ethics Committee 5 (Bangor) reference number: 16/WA/0062. All data collected was stored in line with the University of Liverpool data storage policy (ExternalRef removed), and handled in confidence in line with the Caldicott principles. Ethical review via the Health Research Authority (HRA) was not required for the service improvement elements of the project; nominal group meeting and stakeholder review and consensus meeting with healthcare professionals. An information sheet about the project was sent, inviting them to participate, and consent to participate was obtained through ‘sign up’ to attend both the Nominal Group Technique and the Final Stakeholder Review and Consensus meeting.
