Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Approval to conduct the study was obtained from the Makerere University School of Health Sciences Research Ethics Committee (REC No; 2018–018). Each participant gave written consent prior to participation and was informed of the voluntary nature of their participation. The protection and confidentiality of their identity, and their right to withdraw from the study at any time. Interviews were recorded with participants’ permission. All original documents, including the consent forms, were stored in a secure locked cabinet and digital transcriptions stored in secure password protected files only accessed by the researchers.
