Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval for program implementation, data collection and program evaluation for this initiative was obtained from the GHS (Accra, Ghana), the institutional review board of Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (Accra, Ghana), and the institutional review board of Partners HealthCare (Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, USA). As this was a programmatic training initiative rather than a research study, formal written consent was not required by the institutional review boards. Nevertheless, healthcare providers were informed of the purpose of the evaluation, verbal consent was sought for the conduct of the OSCEs and participation in the training was voluntary.
