Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This is a clinical audit on routinely collected administrative data. According to the Italian law, clinical audits do not require the approval of an ethics committee. (ExternalRef removed).Individual data were treated directly by the Reggio Emilia Local Health Authority (LHA), Department of Primary Care, data owner, in the carrying out of its institutional duties and for the purpose the data were collected; no specific consent to manage data was required. Managing GPs’ prescriptions to provide and/ or to reimburse prescribed tests and to monitor the quality and appropriateness of the prescription is a statutory mandate of the LHA. The General Director, legal representative of the Reggio Emilia LHA, mandated the monitoring and the auditing of the respect of the protocols here reported in the Delibera 2014/0011 del 29/01/2014, named the “Piano della performance 2013-2016” (Performance Plan 2013–2016).
