: We followed the ethical criteria defined by Kozinet [CitationRef removed] and Convery et al. [CitationRef removed] for the netnography. In addition to the authorization letter we obtained from the President of the “Vivre sans thyroïde” forum to carry out the netnography, we also individually contacted each of the 21 forum members we followed. We informed them about the research, how it would be carried out, and its objectives. They were assured that their anonymity and privacy would be guaranteed, that their pseudonyms would be changed to make it impossible to trace them, and that no specific reference concerning the members (age, location, anonymized quotations) would appear. Written informed consent was obtained from all subjects. We submitted the first version of our analysis of the results to them and gave them a month to provide their feedback. We took their corrections into account and integrated them all into the final document. All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. All experimental protocols were approved by a named institutional and/or licensing committee. The ethics committee/institutional review board that approved this study is the executive board of the “Vivre sans thyroïde” forum (ExternalRef removed), represented by its President, Mrs. Beate Bartès.
