: Ethical clearance was provided under the Assisting Safe Deliveries in Tanzania project by the National Health Research Ethics Review Committee, [Ref. No. NIMR/HQ/R.8a/Vol.IX/1986] and the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) [Ref. No. CST/ AD.69/227/2015]. Permission to conduct the study was also obtained from the offices of the Regional and District Medical Officers. The methods were performed under relevant guidelines and regulations, including the process of obtaining informed consent. Informed consent was obtained from all respondents.
