: All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. This study was approved by the Regional Ethical Review Board in Lund, Sweden (ref. no. 2017/501) and, on behalf of the deceased, by the involved Regional Council (ref. no. 229–7). The operations manager of each geographical area was informed of the study and provided written approval of it. Authority to review the records was granted to the present researchers; however, access to the electronic records was only available for a limited time. A personal access code was used to access the records. The data from the reviewed records were saved on an external hard drive and were kept in a locked, secure location when not used. Data for this study comprised the patient records of deceased older people who themselves could not give their consent. Informed consent was obtained from the involved Regional Council, acting as the Legally Authorized Representative of the dead patients and their legal guardians. The procedure for retrieving the patient records of deceased patients was conducted in accordance with Swedish ethics law [CitationRef removed].
