: The Republic of Mauritius Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) approved that assessment of “ Performance of National Health Research System in Mauritius in 2019” be carried out. The MOHW approval letter, also, designated the MOHW national R4H focal person (YR) to administer the questionnaire among his colleagues at the MOHW, MIH, MRIC, UOM, UTM, and three NGOs. The need for ethics approval was waived by the national Institutional Review Board (IRB), namely the Ethics Sub-Committee, MOHW, as ethics review approval is only required on Biomedical Research involving human subjects in a hospital setting. In administering the questionnaire, YR checked availability of interviewees in MOHW, MIH, MRIC, UOM, UTM, and three NGOs, and obtained their verbal consent to participate in the NHRS survey according to national procedures. The Ethics Sub-Committee, Ministry of Health & Wellness, approved the verbal consent to participate procedures.All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
