At the time this authority was Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL (THL/201/6.02.00/2016). According to Finnish legislation, neither approval from the ethics committee nor informed consent from the study populations is required for registry linkage studies. Data permit authority, THL in 2016, granted approval to register-based studies including necessary ethical consideration.
