: Ethics approval was obtained from Makerere University School of Public Health (MUSPH) Higher Degrees, Research and Ethics Committee (protocol number 743). MUSPH provided approval for the parent study and this economic evaluation to be conducted at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital in Jinja, Uganda; all study procedures were performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki.Our analysis was designed and conducted according to the 2013 version of the Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards (CHEERS) statement, the most recent version at the time of analysis design, and is also in compliance with the revised 2022 version.Written informed consent for the parent clinical trial, as well as follow-up analyses including this economic evaluation, was obtained from all caregivers/participants prior to enrollment. Caregivers (parent/legal guardian) were approached for consent for children under 16.
