: All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations for the assessment of content validity for a competency set or job task analysis. While this study is not considered human subjects research (per the Declaration of Helsinki or the United States regulation 45 CFR 46 InlineMediaObject removed ) and there was no experimental protocol, there are industry accepted standards to conducting a content validity study. We closely followed these accepted methodological and ethical procedures, including the following: 1) the purpose of the study was explained in writing to all potential SMEs; 2) their participation was completely voluntary; 3) they could stop providing input at any point; and 4) the study required a description of the SMEs to ensure their credibility to rate/assess the competencies or job tasks [CitationRef removed, CitationRef removed]. For Phase I, SMEs implied consent through their self-initiated applications to the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching to participate in the project. Those selected also provided written consent to be named in the acknowledgements. For Phase II, SMEs implied consent by completing the survey.
