: After assessing the study proposal, the Medical Ethics Review Board at University Medical Center Groningen concluded that the study did not entail clinical research with human subjects as defined in the Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act, and thus that formal approval was not necessary. However, they evaluated the procedures for informed consent and privacy. If participants agreed to be interviewed they signed the informed consent form. The relatives and mental-health workers in question were informed and also signed the informed consent form.
