: The ambulance quality registry was approved by the data protection officer at UNN and inclusion in the registry did not require consent from the patient. The Regional Committee for Medical and Health Research Ethics Northern Norway (application number 685406) approved the present study, and data from the registry were made available for the study under the condition that informed consent was given from all surviving patients. All surviving patients received written information about the study and how to withdraw from the study and were given the opportunity to do so by writing, telephone, or e-mail.
