: Conducting research with children with CP and their families requires special ethical consideration, as they constitute a vulnerable patient group []. The project must meet the following requirements for including children: research must not harm the child; the researcher must be responsive to the child’s needs; the patient group must benefit from the knowledge generated; and producing the research results would not be possible using adult participants [, ]. The study met these requirements, and the ethics approval was obtained from the Regional Committee for Medical and Health Research Ethics in Norway (ref. no. 117063), the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research (ref. No 661345), the Research Department at the participating university hospital, and the Research Departments at the participating municipalities. With these approvals the Declaration of Helsinki were safeguarded, and all the procedures were followed in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulations. Written and oral information about the study was provided to the participants and was tailored to families, children, and service providers. All participants signed informed consent forms prior to participation and were informed about their right to withdraw their consent at any time. Parents signed the informed consent form on behalf of their child after confirming the child’s willingness to participate in interviews.
