: All participants provided written informed consent prior to any study procedures. Malawi guidelines allow those aged ≥ 15 years to initiate PrEP if they meet other eligibility requirements []. We independently consented PrEP users aged between 15 and 17 years, without additional separate parental consent based on their legal right and eligibility to receive PrEP. This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (approval #21-2457) as well as the Malawian National Health Sciences Research Committee (approval #21/09/2777). All procedures performed in this study involving human participants were conducted in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and national research committees and with the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki.
