The study was approved by the San Diego State University Institutional Review Board (reference number HS-2021-0275) and the Makerere University School of Public Health Institutional Review Board (reference number SPH-2022-221). The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology also granted permission to conduct the study (ref number HS2109ES). During the recruitment stage (before administering informed consent), we ensured that all participants were 18 years or older as per the recruitment script (Appendix 1) read or handed to each participant. Thus, all participants were aged 18 years or older and gave written informed consent, including for audio recording, before they participated in the study.
