The ethics protocol was reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Boards of the Ghana Health Service (017/05/24) and the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (2025–10649). Consent forms were e-mailed to participants before each virtual interview. Data collectors made time to answer any questions via email or at the beginning of each in-person and virtual interview and informed written consent was obtained from all participants.
