: The study was approved by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Human Research Ethics Committee (HC230398) and the Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA-IRB-SOP/0114 − 24). The institutional review board of the Addis Ababa Health Bureau (A/A/7948/227) also granted permission to conduct the study. All study participants were interviewed in private rooms at the health centres after being informed that participation was voluntary, the study objectives were explained, written consent was obtained, and identification codes were assigned to each participant. We followed the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki.
