: The study adhered to the Declaration of Helsinki and received approval from the Research Ethics Board at Dalhousie University (2023–6570). The study’s aims, risks, benefits of participation, confidentiality, anonymity, and the right to withdraw from the study were explained to all participants. Only those who provided written and ongoing oral informed consent were included in the study. For LTC residents with moderate or severe dementia, we obtained ongoing consent from their substitute decision maker and assent from the resident.
