Ethical approval: The approval from was sought from Busitema University Research and Ethics Committee under the registration number BUFHS-2025-797. Mbale Regional Referral Hospital Research and Ethics Committee also granted Research and administrative clearance for this study under the registration number MRRHREC-OUT-160/2025. Informed consent was obtained from the patients and caregivers by explaining to them explicitly about what the study is all about and what it was meant for them to participate in the study. Emphasis was put on the participants’ right to either continue with the study or withdraw from the study without penalty or having to provide a reason.
