: Samples of Choloepus didactylus (“Lama Su”) and Tamandua tetradactyla (“Anton”) were obtained from animals housed at Tierpark Berlin. The animals were euthanized by zoo veterinary staff for reasons unrelated to this study. Tissue samples were collected post-mortem and immediately flash-frozen. No animals were euthanized for the purposes of this research. The study used opportunistically collected post-mortem material and did not require prior ethical approval. All work was conducted in accordance with applicable institutional and national guidelines, including Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.
