: The study was conducted according to the Declaration of Helsinki guidelines and approved by the Institutional Review Board (or Ethics Committee) of IDIAP Jordi Gol i Gurina Foundation (protocol code 22/021-P and date of approval 26/01/2022).This study was conducted using pseudo-anonymized, routinely collected healthcare data from the SIDIAP database in Catalonia, Northeast Spain. According to Spanish data protection regulations and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679), the use of pseudo-anonymized health data for research purposes does not require written informed consent from individual patients, provided that the data cannot be traced back to specific persons and appropriate safeguards are in place. The study protocol was reviewed and approved by the corresponding ethics committee (IRB), which confirmed that patient consent was not required due to the retrospective and observational nature of the study and the use of pseudo-anonymized data, the written informed consent was waived by an IRB.
