: As participants were not subjected to any intervention or required to modify their behaviour, the Medical Review Ethics Committee region Oost-Nederland concluded that the study did not fall within the scope of the Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act and granted an exemption from further ethical review (case number 2023–16760). The study was therefore approved. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants prior to participation in the focus groups. Anonymity of both participants and patients referred to in the discussed clinical cases was safeguarded by removing all personally identifiable information from the transcripts.
