: Animals were treated in compliance with the ethical standards per both international and national regulations (Directive 2010/63/EU and D.L. 26/2014). All procedures and protocols used for the in vivo study agreed with quality and ethical standards in force in our Department. The in vivo experimental procedures were approved by the Institutional Ethics and Scientific Committee for Animal Studies (Comitato Etico Scientifico per la Sperimentazione Animale CESA) of the University Federico II and local Organization Responsible for the Animal Protection and Welfare (Organismo Preposto alla Protezione e il Benessere Animale OPBA).The plants were collected from public pasture and no permissions were required.We obtained verbal informed consent from the owners of the sheep included in the study.
